Its role in the body

Essential amino acids are aptly named, since, without them, the body cannot use natural protein to synthesise what it needs.
The growth of kittens and puppies will be slowed down, while essential functions such as nitrogenous waste elimination and haemoglobin synthesis will be disrupted in adult animals.

Natural sources

Dietary proteins of ‘high biological value’ are those that combine good digestibility and a high content of essential amino acids, such as casein from milk, egg, meat and fish proteins and soy isolates.
