Magnesium

Magnesium is the 11th most abundant element in the body.  It’s ions are essential to the basic structure of DNA and RNA and there are over 300 enzymes tha5t require the presence of magnesium.

Magnesium is a major mineral element, qualified in nutrition as a macro element because of the large amounts needed by the body.

Its role in the body

Magnesium ions are essential to all living cells where they play a major role in manipulating important biological compounds including ATP, DNA and RNA.  Deficiencies have been associated with the development of asthma, diabetes and osteoporosis in humans. 

Natural sources

Magnesium is found in spices, nuts, cereals, coffee, tea, cocoa and vegetables (particularly green leafy vegetables like spinach) are rich sources of magnesium.
