Rather aristocratic in appearance, Basenjis are lightly built and fine-boned dogs with long legs in proportion to their body length, always well balanced, lively and intelligent. Their wrinkled head with straight ears is carried proudly on a well arched neck. The deep brisket runs up to the well defined flank. The tail is curled tightly. All told, these are well proportioned dogs with the grace of a gazelle.

Did you know ?

Basenijs have a very distinctive tail, which curls tightly over the back, lying close to the thigh, forming a single or double curl.
