History of Royal Canin PDF Print E-mail

Royal Canin, established in 1967 in Aimargues, the South of France, was founded by veterinarian Dr Jean Cathery.

Dr Cathery first began producing dog food in order to cure recurrent eczema in dogs; he maintained a belief that certain conditions occurred through an adverse reaction to food consumed by the animal.

The global success of this revolutionary food drives Royal Canin to progressively develop the means of high tech production, equipping itself with superb Research & Development capabilities and extending its knowledge to cat food.

The Royal Canin brand has seen spectacular growth with Health Nutrition products in the specialized distribution sector consisting of Pet specialty stores, Veterinarians and Breeders. Royal Canin now sells its foods in more than 90 countries worldwide.

Why Royal Canin PDF Print E-mail

Royal Canin is not your average pet food company. Since our inception in 1967, we have been forerunners in health nutrition because we do things differently. We were different when we produced the first diet exclusively for large-breed dogs. Different when we developed Persian 30, the first diet tailor-made for a single breed. And different when we launched the first nutritional program for indoor cats.

What makes us different is what makes us better

At Royal Canin you won’t find fish-shaped pieces in our cat food or peanut butter stuffed in our kibble. That’s because first and foremost, we respect the animal. Gimmicks benefit the pet owner. Superb nutrition based solely on science benefits the pet.

Read on to see how our philosophy of knowledge and respect translates into the very best nutrition for your animals – nutrition that doesn’t just meet your animals’ needs, but also contributes to their longevity and wellbeing. Nutrition that has innovation inside.
